    >> The club has lost on all four attempts (May 23 at Arizona, May 28 vs. Milwaukee, June 11 vs. the Angels and June 13 vs. the Angels) to reach that plateau this year.”

What that means is that, for the past 3.5 weeks (since May 22), the team has been playing .500 ball.

Even as I generally respect Mattingly, I have questioned some of his decisions as to lineups and strategy. I am in total agreement that, if Juan Uribe must play, he should hit no higher than eighth.

    • Anonymous

Look at Uribe’s splits, admittedly a small sample because of his being hurt. He is first on the team in BA against RHP for any player with more than 14 AB, he is 6th in OBP same criterion, he is 4th in SLG for any Dodger with over 22 AB’s, again vs RHP. Both Loney and Gordon are worse than Uribe in all 3 stats.

      • Anonymous

With Uribe, I think that what you see is what you get.  We could argue that he’s keeping Kennedy out of the lineup.

        • Anonymous

Agreed, I said that at another site this morning.

  4. Adam Luther

Hairston in the 4 hole – interesting.

    • Anonymous

Well, we scored 8 runs the last 2 times he hit 4th, hopefully it happens again tonight.

    • KT

Didn’t he do really well the last time or was it the 3 spot where he went 5 for 5

      • Anonymous

The five for five game was in the three spot

  5. I want an easy plateau, somewhere to rest my head.

  6. KT

    Nice 1st inning Billz

  7. Anonymous

Jason Hammel of Baltimore threw a 1-hitter against the Braves.

    Jason Hammel!

  8. Anonymous

Was that a strike? Looked outside to me.

    • KT

I think it was a tad low and outside…I rewound to see

  9. KT

    Good eye Elian

  10. KT

    Come on Dre…move him around

  11. Anonymous

1st and 3rd with 1 out, bring em home!

  12. Anonymous

In his first hometown appearance since he left the University of Washington (my undergrad alma mater), Tim Lincecum has surrendered first inning home runs to Caspar Wells and Jesús Montero in a notorious pitchers’ park. 22 pitches before getting out of the inning.

    • KT

      excellent news

Now we need chad to get out of this inning

  13. KT

    where was that pitch ump

  14. Anonymous

    Lucky hit

    • bcmaiden

Like I said last night, Alexei hits us well but no one else. They cashed in, we couldn’t.

  15. Anonymous

To repeat (sort of) from below:
    2012 before tonight:
    Uribe  305/359/424
    Loney 269/351/388
    Gordon265/314/335

  16. Curses be upon MLB Network for showing me the Giants – Mariners game rather than the Dodgers – White Sox game.

    There. I feel better.

    • Anonymous

You’re lucky.  I get to see them fall behind while listening to Hawk Harrelson’s homerism and constant trite sayings like “he gon” and “got heem”.

  17. KT

    come on Chad

  18. Christopher Staaf

    Oh man. Come on Chad.

  19. Anonymous

    Down 3-nothing already, that didn’t take long…

  20. KT

well maybe the running on the bases will tire the pitcher enough for us to get some back

  21. Anonymous

    I noticed that Kershaw shaved!

  22. Anonymous

We’re getting to their pitcher, just need to drive in the runs

  23. Down 3-0, but we can get to Humber.. limit any further damage and chip away :)

  24. Anonymous

    Lazy popfly by Ellis

    • bcmaiden

Looked like ball 3 too. I’m ashamed of AJ.

  25. Anonymous

Another weak popflly by Loney, this is ridiculous.

  26. Anonymous

Lead off hit and we do nothing with it, smh.

  27. Christopher Staaf

Jerry Meals better call that outside strike for Chad too.

  28. Anonymous

This is gonna be one of those games, all their hits are finding open spaces.

  29. KT

    Come on DP

    • KT

Not the DP I was asking for but it will do nicely

  30. Anonymous

    Another full count for billingsley.

  31. KT

    Terrible play by Herrera

    • Christopher Staaf

Kemp would have had it. As would Gwynn Jr. Herrera showed he doesn’t play CF often.

  32. Anonymous

Wow, everything going wrong right now

    • bcmaiden

Another big deficit to overcome. White Sox looked horrible in ST, started the season slowly, and have turned it on. Interleague scheduler be damned.

  33. KT

We got to start holding them if we want to get back into this one

  34. KT

    Nice Chad

    Come on Dee

  35. Anonymous

1st and 2nd with no outs, we need to score here.

    • Anonymous

Herrera responds with a weak popfly…

    • Anonymous

Dre singles and Hairston hits a sac fly, well, better than nothing.

  36. KT

    Nice hit Dre

Come on Jerry now the time to come through

  37. KT

He’s been calling that a strike all night

  38. KT

    well we scratched

  39. KT

    Nice Bobby!!

  40. Anonymous

2 runs, this has gone better than expected.

  41. KT

    Nice AJ!!!

  42. Anonymous

    3 runs!

A STORY BEHIND EVERY UNIFORM Super Joe McEwing (third base coach, White Sox) –His first full season in the majors was also his best. McEwing batted .275 in 1999 with 141 hits and nine home runs, both career highs. He also amassed a 25-game hitting streak, the fifth longest at that time by a rookie, and finished fifth in National League Rookie of the Year balloting.
McEwing became an immediate fan favorite because of his energy, hustle and obvious love for the game. During his rookie season, McEwing played every position on the field, except for pitcher and catcher. In his honor, St. Louis Cardinals fans created what was known as “Little Mac Land,” in a play on words of the official “Big Mac Land” created in the upper deck of Busch Stadium for Mark McGwire. McEwing had a streak of 230 errorless games, which at one point was the longest such streak by an active major league outfielder.

    Tie game!

  48. KT

    Let’s go Juan your turn

  49. Anonymous

Great inning dodgers. It’s a brand new game now.

  50. KT

    good inning…now let’s hold them

  51. So much for chipping away! Game on

  52. Christopher Staaf

James Loney is coming around nicely. Now please put him in the lineup every day.

  53. Anonymous

Lol, bills was sick of that annoying Ramirez as well

  54. bcmaiden

Ugh, bad defense again on a routine play.  IDJ and Elian are both better defensively but don’t get the call over Jerry and Adam.

  55. Anonymous

Gave the lead right back, they didn’t even earn it. :/

  56. KT

I still think Jerry is better suited for 3rd base even though he says he’s not comfortable there

  57. KT

    Very intersting in Anahiem

    Good hit Chad…come on Dee

    • Anonymous

is rojas avoiding calling it again?  so stupid…

  58. Anonymous

i think Billz made the best pitches (of the entire game) to Beckham, OUTSIDE fastball tailing in at 93mph, then he threw a fastball IN to tie up Beckham with a weak grounder. If he pitches like that moving forward, we’ll be ok…

  59. KT

just a little ahead on that one Elian

  60. KT

    Good eye Dre

    Come on Jerry

  61. KT

Now they are in scoring position

Make him pay for throwing at your head (not on purpose)

  62. Anonymous

Humber with all kinds of trouble, the catcher set up outside & Humber threw it over Hairston Jr’s head.

  63. Anonymous

    Ugh, lucky sox

  64. Anonymous

We need to make them pay even more if they are going to let us get runners in scoring position every inning.

  65. KT

    Come on DP

  66. Anonymous

    Beautiful pitch sequence to Rios.

  67. Anonymous

Something very interesting happening in Anaheim

  73. bcmaiden

    Bad throw good tag Dee.

  74. KT

    Come on IDJ jr

  75. KT

bases loaded 1 out in the bottom of the 6th in SEA…Lincecum gone

  76. Anonymous

Dee looks at three straight strikes, back to back 123 innings

  77. Anonymous

We have lost the ability to field ground balls

    • bcmaiden

Wright our ground ball pitcher coming in…please field the ball gang.

  78. KT

    terrible defense tonight

  79. KT

    good eye Elian

    Come on Dre

  80. KT

    Wow….midlle batter pitching switch…twice in 2 days

    • KT

I guess I missed it…Dre struck out not middle switch

  81. I vote for Herrera as leadoff.

  82. KT

    Come on Bobby

  83. Anonymous

Hairston strikes out looking, swing the bat man

  84. Anonymous

    What an ugly inning.
Hopefully the Mariners can save our butts tonight and hang on to their lead.

  85. bcmaiden

Batting Jerry cleanup a disaster tonight with 8 runners 7 LOB. This team could be scary if it had a real #5.

    • Anonymous

We have nobody other than Ethier that teams have to worry about pitching to. Can’t wait for the all-star break.

  86. Anonymous

i was about to type, that it was a perfect situation for Abreu to hit his 2nd bomb…

  87. bcmaiden

Giants down to their last 3 outs to get 3.

  88. Anonymous

    hey batter, batter…

  89. Anonymous

i got wiggly legs on that Wright curve.

  90. bcmaiden

    There goes Alexei AGAIN.

  91. KT

Way to work a walk AJ

    Come on BGJ

  92. Anonymous

Thank you Mariners! Our division lead remains at 4 tonight.

  93. Christopher Staaf

Come on Loney, good time to hit your first Dodger Stadium homer of the year.

    • Christopher Staaf

So much for that…I think we got away with one on the DP attempt.

      • Anonymous

i’ll take it, it was definitely an out.

      • bcmaiden

Looked like a tie to me and the rule is tie goes to the runner, doesn’t it?

  94. Anonymous

    Si se puede?

  95. Christopher Staaf

At least Uribe didn’t hit into a double play.

  96. bcmaiden

Watching Uribe at bat is the most painful thing.

    • Anonymous

His swing is a tornado of failure.

      • Christopher Staaf

I still want to know how he hit 156 HRs and lasted over 10 years with that swing.

        • bcmaiden

Excellent question because he not only has a horrible swing, he swings at everything.

  97. Anonymous

Gwynn can’t hit or steal bases now.

  98. bcmaiden

Bad words. Jr is going thru a really bad stretch. Our Saturday record in jeopardy.

  99. KT

Good job Josh…Come on Boys let’s get some hits

  100. Anonymous

i hope destiny has something pretty in store for us this inning!

    Let’s go Dodgers. woo!

    • Anonymous

What year did Dre have a ton of walk-offs? I want some of those now.

  101. bcmaiden

Explain to me how Adam Dunn could suck as badly as he did last year FOR THE ENTIRE YEAR?

  102. Anonymous

    Hi Guys….
Quick post here… too much family stuff lately to post…
But, I have to say that Herrera’s AB last night in which he laced that ball down the right field line on that 2-strike, hard bender had to be one of the nicest pieces of hitting I’ve seen in a while…
Had to give him some major credit for that one.
    ….
How is this team finding ways to win all these games? Smoke and mirrors? …
    I don’t care…. I’m not going to complain… I’m just going to enjoy the wins and Vinny’s voice. :-)

  103. Anonymous

3-3 for the week, meeting expectations with this current roster.

On the other hand, another one run loss, getting really sick of these.

  104. Christopher Staaf

Good news: the Giants lost, still have a 4 game lead. The bullpen (expecially Jamey Wright) pitched well.

Bad news: no hits after the 4th inning, the defense left much to be desired, the Saturday winning streak ends.

Tomorrow, I hope Cappy can go 8 innings and take the series before heading on the road to Oakland. Go Blue. See you all tomorrow and Happy Father’s Day.

  105. bcmaiden

I’m calling Jerry the whipping boy tonight with all the goose eggs with RISP and bad defense.

    • Anonymous

In the cleanup spot as well, bad bad bad combo.

  106. KT

Oh well tomorrow we need to take the rubber game…always like to take a series

    • Anonymous

Yep, don’t want to drop 2 series in a row.

  107. Happy father’s day to all of you who are fathers
or have a father or had a father or know a father!Today’s game feels like one of those I Especially Miss Matt Kemp Today games (facing a young lefty) but hopefully I’ll be wrong. Quintana’s been pretty good but we’ll see. Time for righties like Jerry Jr to pick it up again. Enjoy the game, I’m out in the woods (with internet) this weekend and gonna get some fresh air, watch the game on replay later. Let’s get a W!

    • Anonymous

Enjoy the woods UD.  Outdoors with internet, unbelievable.  And yes let’s get a W :)
