News in today’s lineup:

  • A morning change pushed Chris Capuano into today’s start in place of Chad Billingsley, who has an as-yet undisclosed injury, according to Alex Angert of MLB.com. Jimmy Bramlett of LAist tweets that Billingsley will have an MRI on his elbow.

“According to Donnie, Bills has had soreness in his elbow the last several starts but thought it was just normal wear,” Bramlett adds.

The Dodgers say that Nathan Eovaldi will start Monday; Tuesday is TBD.

  • Matt Kemp is getting a rest day to protect his rehabilitated hamstring.
  • Juan Uribe is getting his first start at shortstop since May 4, 2011.

  1. Are they just being extra careful with Kemp? Day game after a night game. It makes sense. I am sure we will see him today at somepoint

    • Anonymous

Hopefully, there will be no need for him.

If there’s no Herrera, I would sooner see a Roomba at short and at the plate (Roombas do not flail at pitches in the dirt).

  3. Anonymous

    Uribe at SS :(

What do you say to Jansen after that just awful play last night?  I know you have to forget about it but to literally give away a game like that in such an embarrassing fashion.  Ouch.  Oh well.

Will we be seeing Ely soon?  Or is Lilly expected back soon?

  5. Blue-eyed Gal

Bills got hit by the “Blueeyedgal goes to the ballpark, so it must be Capuano” injury bug. sorry, Chad.

  6. KT

Its very rarity makes it notable.

      • KT

But being in the stadium and feeling the energy of maybe getting out of the inning just to have the life sucked out of everyone…it was tough

  19. KT

ellis needed to pull that ball a little more to get it out of her

    Good hustle Dre

  20. KT

The ball that hit that woman last night and left a deep wide gash went about 3-5 feet over my glove. I was two sections closer and 5 rows in front of her. I almost bought those seats. The crowd in front of her just parted and the ball struck her forehead above her left eye. The guy sitting in front of me is a neurosurgen and he tried to help but they didn’t want it.

  21. KT

    Come on DP

  22. KT

    Was Mark Gun Shy?

  23. The little leaguers have shown up again.

    • KT

We I went to the restruant I saw the whole group behind my seats on the 3rd base side last night

  24. KT

    Good DP

  25. KT

    Loney got robbed

  26. KT

Nice 2 bagger Jerry…Loney would have scored on that one

  27. Anonymous

As a shortstop, Uribe makes throws that not even Loney can handle.

  28. KT

    Jerry with another Fine play

  29. KT

    Nice James

  30. KT

    Nice Jerry…Having a good day

Maybin’s throw was right on line, good for Dodgers that it hit the mound.

  32. Anonymous

    I’d been hoping for a no-drama inning.

  33. Getting pretty tired of all these balls thrown into the stands.

  34. Arrrrgh! Jerry, you had time to throw!

  35. Anonymous

    …about Jerry having a nice day…

I’m with you though, KT,  when this guy swings the bat he swings it well.  Betting he makes up for both those errors.

  36. KT

smart move by ethier not to leave the box and get out of the way of the catcher

  37. KT

5 out of 10 Hr’s against LA…Know wonder why the Dodgers want him

The new sig’s are from Andre Ethier, Dave Hansen, Jim Leyritz and Adam Kennedy and that’s just my daughters take. Her reaction to Dre’s sig (the final one) “Best Day Ever”

So, btimmer is the George Foreman of bloggers? (testing parameters of obelisk)

Donnie going with a Sunday lineup eventhough the team had off 4 days this week?!? Now they lose 5 of 6 to the D-Backs and Padres. OUCH! And Uribe at SS. Donnie, what were you thinking?

  49. Anonymous

Uribe, along with Panda formed the Les Ballets Trockadero left side of the giant infield in 2009.

    • Anonymous

That’s the Gnat infield. Gnats, like ticks, can get engorged.

Hoping Billingsley is ok.  And that this streak of awful turns around.

    Enter Joe Blanton, stage left.

  51. Barack Obama just issued this statement regarding the Dodgers last two games:

    “They played stupidly”

i’m embarrassed to say this but i didn’t realize DS was going to have a Kirk Gibson bobble head night July 31st. From my childhood there isn’t a more defining moment than that, the entire season was magical, that was just the cherry on top & it showed the nation what all angelinos  were witnessing all season long, if i can & if it isn’t sold out yet, i have to be there man.

    • KT

tickets are available…I would like to go again to DS this year and that would be the game but don’t know if I can afford the good seats again both at stub hub and ticketmasters
