I agree, at least with Gordon we get speed on the basepaths

    • I think I like Dee Gordon more than most, but do you really think he would never have a single bad fielding game?

      • Anonymous

No but at least we get something with him

        • Maybe you get something more on offense. Maybe. I don’t think you’ll find anyone who doesn’t think you’ll lose it on defense.

I’d be fine with Dee because he’s just fun to watch and has more upside, but the idea that he’s some big answer is a stretch.

I also like his enthusiasm and I think we need that (amongst other things) right now

          • I realize I’m being devil’s advocate, but Sellers is enthusiastic too.

That’s fine, I don’t see the day to day plays like you guys do, so I’ll take your word for it :)

Nice interview, Jon. It filled the gap since Gameday Audio didn’t allow the pregame show.

  3. KT

Damn MLB audio is not working…I don’t want to have to listen to the Padres announcers

  4. Anonymous

Attention, Donnie: THIS is how you get runs!

And audio is STILL not working . . . perhaps I should be happy.

  5. Anonymous

    Not enjoying this so far.

Didn’t Vin say something the other night about Cap and his first 15 pitches?

      • Anonymous

BR shows an OPS against of .800 for pitches 1-25 and then .554 for pitches 26-50 in 2012.

  6. Only on KCAL? Consarn it, why are you doing this to me, Dodgers and MLB?

  7. Anonymous

Yikes. Maybe Lilly knew something we didn’t.

  8. Anonymous

    ouch

  9. Some tweets from the top of the first:

Already you start to worry that you need a first baseman who can pitch long relief, but where’s your James Loney now?????

Score at the end of half an inning at the 4+1 game: Padres 4, Dodgers 0.

The only current Dodger to play in the 4+1 game was pinch-hitter Andre Ethier.

  10. KT

looks like Cappy hurt his ankle or pulled a hammy covering 1st

  11. Capuano definitely limping. Tweets are that Wall is warming up.

  12. Anonymous

Well, we are getting some air under the ball.

  13. Anonymous

    Aaron Harang anyone ?

  14. KT

    MLB audio is working now

    • Anonymous

      So is the video.

      • KT

actually watching on tv, but didn’t want to listen to “Homer” Mark Grant so I muted the SD feed

  15. Anonymous

so who is our next starter in line if Capuano is out for a period of time?

    • Anonymous

      Ted Lilly?

      • Anonymous

        Better Fife than Lilly.

        • Anonymous

Wouldn’t mind seeing Fifie, but not ready to throw Lilly under the bus. While I realize that coming back from an injury at his age is not a given, he did give us a 120 ERA+ in 48 innings last year before getting hurt.

  16. KT

    good hit Juan

  17. KT

    Way to get on Justin

  18. Anonymous

Well, looks like it’s time to get back to reading Nigel Tranter’s “Margaret the Queen” …more entertaining. Had only ever read his “The Wallace” which he wrote way before the movie “Braveheart” was made and seemed to be the book that the movie was based on but never did hear anything to that effect.

  19. KT

Come on Carl…get us some runs

  20. KT

Way to get on Carl…Come on Mark simple single

  21. KT

Come on Matty drive in another run this inning

  22. Anonymous

Sellers should have tagged up on that fly ball by Ellis.

  23. Anonymous

    (sigh)

  24. KT

well at this rate if we hold them we still have enough innings to beat them

    • Anonymous

I like your positive talk better than my sigh :)

  25. KT

    Nice Play Gonzo

  26. KT

    Let’s go Dre

  27. KT

    good swing by Cruz there

  28. KT

That’s it for me…my son is done…I might just sit out tomorrows game just to shake things up…we need it

This team is brutal, really not making that “whole new blue” slogan look any good.

  30. The Dodgers hadn’t trailed a game by seven runs since August 27. http://www.baseball-reference.com/boxes/COL/COL201208270.shtml

Whole new (way of feeling) Blue.

    Hey fellas!

My first contribution this season…. as if this night couldn’t possibly get worse for you all….. ;-)
    …..

I’m not ready to hit the panic button, but… I am concerned….
    ……
I’ll just say this, though… Carl Crawford looks great.
I love his approach at the plate, and he is just, flat-out… an ‘athlete’ in addition to a great baseball player.

He’s fun to watch, for sure. IMHO.

    • Anonymous

I’d either drop Kemp to the 6 hole or bench him for a game or two and put Crawford in the 3 spot.

  33. Anonymous

The “offense” has reverted to their habit of making each opposing pitcher look like a Cy Young candidate.

As usual, this is the only blog I’ve seen where the posters act in a normal intelligent manner. Some of the other blogs are well written and interesting enough but the posters come across as idiots, all name calling and posting wild, non-baseball stuff. Apparently the bloggers don’t care, as long as they get the hit for pay purposes. MSTI is one of the best blogs but the writer has maybe the worst posters. I’ve tried to contact him about that but no success there. I would like to see his blog be all it could be, as this one is.
