    Go BLUE!!!!

  2. TAFKA_Gagne55

For as well as the Dodgers have played lately, they haven’t had a W streak of more than 6 games (and surprisingly haven’t in over three years). Going for lucky 7 tonight!

    • WBBsAs

Toughest matchup in a while, especially with Ethier out of lineup.

      • mike_tink

Harvey, at least this season, has been much tougher on LHH than on RHH although no sign that Mattingly noticed with 3 LHH plus the switch hitter Punto in the line-up.

        • WBBsAs

I wasn’t aware, but then it’s not my job to be aware of such things.

        • JHT

I don’t think it’s enough of a sample size to say that he’s an exception to the left-right rule, which is almost universal.

          • mike_tink

I didn’t say he was; that was the purpose of “at least this season”. But, his splits are extreme; like a very good LHP

          • JHT

It’s not very extreme given the sample size. Probably just an aberration with no predictive value. He’s dominated everyone.

          • mike_tink

It is extreme, sample size of over 300 PA against both L and R HHs.
His sOPS+ #’s are 18 and 62. The 18 is vs LHH. I just heard on the Mets broadcast that LHH are 6 for last 61 against him.
I didn’t say it had predictive value but if I was choosing a line-up right now I would treat him as a LHP if I had the right players until I see different #’s.

Would prefer if you do not reply as you have said the same thing twice while I offer actual information. If you reply with your opinion on small sample for the 3rd time I will ignore.

          • JHT

I wasn’t going to reply until you said your obnoxiousness about not replying. I WAS going to make a conciliatory comment about how tonight’s game is proving me wrong. Now I have to point out that you’re saying that this data has no predictive value but you would use the information to make predictions and decisions. Pure gibberish. Apologies to Jon, but some things can’t be resisted.

          • JHT

I also have to point out that facing a (slim) majority of left-handers means that he’s facing only the best righties on every team, but the lefties include whatever flotsam each team has available. That renders the .558/.447 OPS divide rather suspect.

  3. WinnipegDave

Exactly 15 teams have had at least one winning streak this season longer than the Dodgers’ (3 separate) 6 game winning streak(s):

    Atlanta – 14 games in July/August
    Detroit – 12 games in July/August
Toronto – 11 games in June (oh Toronto – shakes head a little bit)
Milwaukee – 9 games in April
Oakland – 9 games in April
Pittsburgh – 9 games in June
    KC – 9 games in July/August
Colorado – 8 games in April

LAA – 8 games in May
Seattle – 8 games in July
TBay – 8 games in July

    Cleveland -8 games in July/August
Texas – 8 games in August
Boston – 7 games in April
SD – 7 games in June

St. Louis (April/May), SF (April/May), Cincinnati (May) and Houston (May, June) have had 6 game winning streaks.

Chalk it up to streaks being streaky I suppose. Winning series and weeks of the season are a much better indicator of a club’s strength.

    • btimmer

      OK, that formatting didn’t work.

      Never mind

      • WinnipegDave

I know I have nothing to say after that – except “huh?”

        • btimmer

I was trying to put up a table of the RS and RA for July and August.

          I failed.

          • WinnipegDave

That’s funny. I simply assumed that the brilliance of your comment eluded me.

  4. mike_tink

Hanley was hurt on the 4th, thus, had he gone on the DL his earliest day back would have been Tuesday the 20th. If he starts tomorrow that will save 5 games. The tweet from Bill Shaikin, shown in the previous thread, was wrong in saying 3 games if Hanley came back Friday; should have been 4.

  5. Ker Garin

Any word on negotiations between CBS and Time Warner Cable? It’s killing me that I can’t see the game…

  6. foul tip

Bob_Hendley to dalegribel 3 hours ago

    “Hopefully just general soreness.”

I think I see what you did there.

  7. btimmer

May we stipulate for the record, that no one misses Joe Blanton.

  8. I don’t know how that one got out.

  9. Bob_Hendley

    Uribear has been tagged.

  10. btimmer

Chris Davis’ 44th homer of the season gives the Orioles a 2-0 lead at Arizona.

  11. “Any word on negotiations between CBS and Time Warner Cable?”

Hey, Ker Garin. I’m in the same boat as you. I just called TW and asked if there was any way I could see the Dodgers Game. She surprised me by saying that if I called a TW cable store, they could activate my CBS antenna code (or something like that), and then I could watch Dodgers games that were on CBS. Though it’s too late for today, because the store is closed, and only the store could do this. Strange situation!

  12. Bob_Hendley

Vin has repeated twice that the giants “stole” the pennant from the Dodgers in 1951.

    • btimmer

He was friends with Ralph Branca.

    • WBBsAs

Hendley, I have answered your question on my blog. You can also reach me directly: southerncone (at) mac.com.

  13. KT

    Juanito!

  14. “tv top rabbit ears”

KT, is that right? If I connect rabbit ears to my TV, I can watch ch 2 and 9? Forgive my ignorance, is it that simple? I disconnected my rooftop antenna many years ago. Are just rabbit ears powerful enough to give a strong signal? Even HD? I live in Marina Del Rey.

    • btimmer

They aren’t rabbit ears, but digital signal converters. To watch channels 2 and 9, you would hook up the receiver and then turn off the cable for those channels.

    • KT

You are close enough to Mount Wilson to get a good signal..not sure how HD would work but the signal is digital now over the air

      • Thanks, KT! If this dispute continues, I might end up going over to Radio shack and getting some rabbit ears.

  15. KT

    Come on CC let’s scratch

  16. KT

    Good eye CC

  17. Spence

Staring Marte just made one of the worst OF errors I’ve ever seen.

  18. Bob_in_Vegas

    Let’s go, Gonzo!

  19. KT

    Come on Gonzo

  20. Bob_in_Vegas

Is that 3 DPs in 3 or 4 games for Puig?

  21. Spence

Cardinals tie it in the 9th. If you guys havent seen the replay, its worse than Holiday’s drop.

  22. Spence

I think its pretty cool that the 2 best rookies this year IMO (Yasiel Puig and Jose Fernandez) are both around the same age and each defected from Cuba.

  23. KT

Here is a really bad GIF of the Uribe moment with the little kid before the game @markasaxon http://imgflip.com/i/2za6m

  24. scooplew

Two on and nobody out, with Gonzalez and Puig coming up, so I head to the kitchen to finish the dishes and return to see what happened. I will let the dishes wait next time. On Puig’s DP grounder on a 3-0 pitch, did he hit it hard?

    • ASW1

yes – and definitely the right call – Puig didn’t execute this time, but it was a FB right down the middle.- smashed it to the 2nd baseman.

  25. Bob_in_Vegas

Getting baserunners . . . now gotta get ’em around!

  26. KT

    Good Eye AJ!

  27. KT

    Juanito!

  28. Bob_in_Vegas

    This is the time!

  29. KT

    Come on Nicky!

  30. Bob_in_Vegas

    Nick!

  31. KT

    NICKY!!!

  32. Bob_in_Vegas

Nice to see someone else overthrow the cutoff man!

  33. Uribear and the little pony!

  34. Bob_in_Vegas

Those Bostonians keep on keeping on!

  35. KT

    Come on CC

  36. Spence

Harvey losing tonight would help Kershaw’s CY Young hopes.

  37. mike_tink

Does Wallach deserve credit for sending Uribe, given that EYjr does not have a good arm?

  38. KT

Rick Monday is talking about our Little League team being in Williamsport

    • Bob_Hendley

Had a great time up there last year, but looks like I can’t make it this time.

  39. foul tip

Gameday has Ryu hitting 94 twice that inning, along with 93 six times. Evidently he can bring it at times.

  40. btimmer

Just as soon as Vin talks about Jim Johnson’s blown saves…

    • John_from_Aus

At least he didn’t give them a walkoff win (fighting back to retire the last 2 with men on 2nd and 3rd)

  41. 4 runs on the wunderkind? I don’t know what ESPN is going to do with themselves.

  42. Bob_Hendley

    Yanks seem to appreciate Blanton.

  43. Spence

No Cy Young for you Matt Harvey!

    • ASW1

Yeah, whats the big deal about Harvey, anyways. Dodgers not impressed.

  44. ASW1

That was a cool sign – “Ryuookie of the year”

  46. scooplew

Nice of Donnie to give Gordon an at bat here, because I don’t think he’s going to be playing much shortstop.

    • Bob_in_Vegas

      Let’s hope not!

    • Bob_Hendley

He did manage to get on base twice in all three of his starts, but boy that fielding…

  47. scooplew

Harvey’s ERA went up from 2.09 to 2.23 tonight.

    • ASW1

And if tonight is any indication, it should rise more by the end of the season.

  48. KT

explaining baseball to my 3 yr old

    • KT

EY fouled a ball off his foot “yea he did it”

      he’s telling me to watch

    • ASW1

Make sure to tell him if you’re pitching, you have to do that little bunny hop like Beli did whenever you field a ball… he’ll like that.

  49. KT

    nice belli

  50. Spence

    Dbax walk off again.

  51. Bob_Hendley

    Ump seems a little squeezy

  52. ASW1

    Very nice, Carl

The main reason to dislike defensive indifference.
