Monday’s traffic will be mitigated slightly by it being Columbus Day, which is a holiday for some people. Well, at least it is for me. And the Post Office.

That’s good news since I’ll be going straight to DS from Vegas. The drive wasn’t too bad last Sunday, even tho it was Back to CA Day here.

Wednesday’s post-game traffic will be an issue. I’m in section 301 by the bullpen. Go Dodgers in five.

LAT’d: in the past, even when the Dodgers have been very good, they’ve most often been underdogs. Many of their fans now feel anxiety because they’re overdogs.

    • The Dodgers were the popular pick in both the 2008 and 2009 NLCS. In 2008, it was because they looked so impressive pounding the Cubs, who had the best record in the NL. In 2009, the Dodgers had the best record in the NL and had beaten St. Louis impressively as well.

It wasn’t like they were prohibitive favorites, but I don’t think you could call them underdogs in those NLCS. They could have been considered underdogs in those NLDS series, though.

Still, I would say that expectations are higher now, and that contributes to fan anxiety.

        • Look, we’re anxious. But I don’t think we’re more anxious than we were in 2009. I can’t imagine anyone thinks this series is a lock. We were desperate then, and we’re desperate now.

Perhaps I’m speaking for myself, but I didn’t feel that sort of tension in 2009. I was curious to see what would happen, but not anxious. For what it’s worth, in 1988, I predicted the Dodgers in five in the Series.

I think one difference in this year’s NLCS as opposed to the Dodgers-Phillies NLCS is that there won’t be this narrative of “the Phillies will win because they’re mentally tougher.” The winner of this series is much more likely to come down along the lines of “the team with the best top to bottom organization vs the team that threw a lot of money at the situation.”

I actually prefer that. The losses to the Phillies were just so annoying because the Phillies supposedly won because they picked the “right” kind of players. Even though they actually had slightly better players.

I am also surprised that the Twitterverse tends to dislike the Cardinals as much as it does.

I assume you meant games 2 and 5 are in the daytime Jon?
