Dodgers averaging 8.0 runs in undefeated July

  1. I think it’s safe to say, with no sarcasm, that A.J. Ellis is going to strike out every at-bat he has with a runner on base today.  That’s just the kind of day I’m having.

  2. bcmaiden

Have we been officially saved by an “El Caballo” veto?

    • Anonymous

MLBTR so says… I feel relieved.

      • bcmaiden

Thank God. Just what we needed…another old, fat, past his prime, powerless, defensive liability.

  3. Anonymous

I don’t know if it’s healthy that I’m rooting for the Dodgers to get shut out again. Because it would be really weird.

While this lineup isn’t great, it’s not like it’s the 1972 Rangers either.

  4. Anonymous

I guess the SVS experiment is officially over.

    • Anonymous

Maybe he’s on hold for a pending trade for…. something…

    • Anonymous

      Why?

    • Anonymous

I’m appalled at how bad he’s looked since this most recent callup. At least Sands plays the game right.

  5. Jack Dawkins

I am curious how trade blame will go looking forward.  Will Ned take the heat, or is he seen now just as Kastens puppet?

    • Anonymous

Any blame for the trade not happening ought to be on Lee, no?

      • Jack Dawkins

I am speakign in general.  Already we saw a lot of dissent about this trade on here.  But the fingerpointing seemed rather vague it seemed to me, as far as pointign at a dodger decision maker.

        • Anonymous

Well, to answer your question, I’m sure Kasten and Colletti both are major decision-makers in any deals.  Anyone else’s role, we just don’t know.

          • Jack Dawkins

Yes I agree.  Im just curious how going forward in time, with other deals that seem to be unfavorable on here, where the ire of the commentators will focus.

          • Anonymous

Maybe there will be deals with favorable feedback.

Tonight is the Gee-Whiz game.  :)

  7. KT

    Nice move Clayton

    Wright owns us.

    DP please!

    • KT

shoud have been one Craig…Adam can’t handle a slow hit ball

  9. KT

Giving extra out (generous scoring Ellis would have had it)…won’t get it done

  10. bcmaiden

Holy crud. MEllis gets that ball and probable DP. I hate Kennedy/Hairston @2nd.

  11. Anonymous

    Pitching coach time.

  12. Anonymous

Crazy Mets on the base paths.

  13. bcmaiden

Not even Kid K can save this team. Only hope is to pitch shutouts.

    • Anonymous

Shutouts also tough to get when the second baseman looks like a 50 year old playing D.

  14. Well that could’ve been worse. Could’ve been better, too.  Kersh has one inning a game like that lately, one inning where he’s off. Hopefully that’s it!

    Meanwhile, this made me chuckle:
Ken Rosenthal ‏@Ken_Rosenthal: Source: #Dodgers pulled out of Lee talks earlier today. Deal off.Not

Buster Olney ‏@TrippingOlney: THE DODGERS HAVE PULLED OUT

      Yes, the honeymoon is over.

    • KT

He should be a bench guy…not a regular like they way we have had to use him

Dodgers may explode for a run!!!

  25. Guys… guys….! What just happened? Why is there someone crossing the plate… does that count? Someone explain.  Someone hold me!

    • KT

do you need explaining or were you kidding?

      • I was being very facetious btw, KT. Just wasn’t accustomed to Dodgers scoring, thought I was tripping.

  26. Anonymous

    Boom!

  27. bcmaiden

Be still my heart…A RUN…thank you Juan RBI Rivera

  28. Anonymous

    Ahhhhhh……the importance of the RBI.

  29. Anonymous

We scored a run miracles do happen!
And Kennedy ruins the party, as expected.

  30. bcmaiden

    Go away Kennedy, PLEASE.

    • Anonymous

I really hope when Ellis returns Kennedy goes away forever.

      • The important thing is just that Ellis is coming back. That means full time Ellis, hopefully, which stabilizes second. Then Hairston fills in for him and plays more third (along with Herrera). WHich means less Uribe as well.  So there’s a positive domino effect about to happen.  Kennedy already really doesn’t play that much, frankly, but he’ll play even less soon, even if he’s still on the roster. If Sellers were healthy I’d rather have him in that role, though.

        • bcmaiden

Hairston hasn’t played 3rd since he told Donnie he was more comfortable @2nd, so why would he going forward.

          • Anonymous

I’m sure Hairston would be more receptive once the choice is third or pinch hitting.

  31. KT

Way to get the balls your supposed to Clayton…Twice

  32. KT

    Good inning Clayton…1-2-3

  33. Yay, an easy inning for Kid k!

  34. Anonymous

At least Loney doesn’t pretend to be a hitter anymore, first pitch swinging for an easy groundball out.

  35. bcmaiden

Don’t walk Uribe. You may help the team.

  36. KT

I think the trade deadline should be pushed back to the 10th of August because of the extra wild card now implemented

  37. bcmaiden

No, Kersh. You can’t BB the pitcher to lead off the inning. Come on.

  38. KT

    Come on DP

    • Anonymous

I thought you weren’t allowed to anticipate a DP?

      • KT

we need to put anyone else at SS because his head isn’t in the game anymore

        • Anonymous

Head may be too much in the game, actually.   Lotta presure on the kid.

          • Anonymous

Dee made errors at roughly the same rate in A ball, double A, and triple A. I don’t think pressure or rookie whatever is the issue. Maybe his arm just isn’t strong enough to make accurate throws from short.

          • Anonymous

Perhaps, though not evident to me as regards arm strength, as I recall him cutting down some runners at the plate with relays.

          • Anonymous

            Gordon played AAA?

  39. KT

    Damm Dee

  40. Anonymous

    Dee Gordon ANOTHER ERROR.

  41. bcmaiden

I’ve seen enough of Dee. Easy DP blown. Get a SS and send him down.

  42. Anonymous

And the boos are well deserved ESPN crew, very well deserved.

  43. KT

    Take him out

  44. Anonymous

This team can do nothing right, BOO!

  45. Anonymous

    Embarrassing

    • bcmaiden

I knew this team would be an embarrassment on national TV.

  46. bcmaiden

Wow, get this kid outta’ here.

  47. KT

These errors definitely hurting Kershaw…pitch count 56 and climbing

  48. Anonymous

E6 Gordons at bat is going to be hilarious to watch and listen to.

    • Anonymous

Hard for me to feel glee in a situation like this.

    • Anonymous

And ESPN showed the lowlights instead of letting us hear the crowds reaction, darn.

  49. bcmaiden

Camera on Ned priceless. Call up Luis Cruz, make a roster move. We have nothing, absolutely nothing to lose and everything to gain.

  50. Anonymous

    I feel bad for Dee
    I like him a lot
This is what happens when your roster has no depth
Kennedy, Hairston, Sellers, There is no other legit SS on the roster
Ned knew that coming into spring training
Dee just needs some time, but there’s nobody to spell him

James Loney HAS to make that pick at 1B
Long time “Rule of Thumb” for 1B – “If it’s below your head, you absolutely have to catch it”
I think his hitting is beginning to affect his fielding
He’s actually looking ‘human’ over there at 1B

    • bcmaiden

You seriously can’t put this on James. Dee rushes, throws sidearm, or bounces the ball to 1st. Neither play required quick throws of any kind. His body and feet have time to set and throw. He’s been doing this all year too.

      • Anonymous

Sadly, two negatives only make a positive in math.

      • Anonymous

         Hi bc
I  was referring to the second ball from Dee, not the double play ball

    • Anonymous

Yes, James seems out of it.  While he might normally make that play, he also tried too hard to sell the out and neglected the runner going home.

    • Anonymous

Wouldn’t Sellers qualify as legit SS? He would be playing if not for injury I think.

      • Anonymous

I like the kid from Marina HS as much as anybody else, but he’s in no way my starting SS if I’m a GM
        -backup SS/2B, pinch runner
        IMHO

  51. Anonymous

Frank Burke, John Traub…Maybe this is the talent in the system we need to discuss bringing up before we work on the infield

  52. KT

Dee doesn’t run anymore…if he does then they have to make a much harder play at 1st

    • bcmaiden

Right. The few times he’s been on base lately, he doesnt try to steal. So, that begs the question, What good is he?

      • KT

BC calm down…nobody is perfect…Could you do better at SS?

        • Anonymous

Unlike bcmaiden is actually Luis Cruz, not that relevant

  53. So frustrating. With Dee, I try to remember how raw he was when they drafted him though. Hadn’t played that much organized baseball and then went pretty quickly through the system. I think there’s a reason Dodgers are still patient with him but there’s also a good argument for him going back to AAA to straighten himself out for a bit.   Not sure what ese to suggest, since I know Corey Seager isn’t ready. ;)

Uribe at SS, Hairston at 3rd? Not too exciting either. Trading for a superior 3rd baseman gives them more flexibiility to try stuff like that at SS though.

    • KT

UD you are right…I haven’t given up on Dee but he needs tutelage (bunting, throwing to 1st) probably in AAA would be better

How could the dodgers take the bat out of Kershaw’s hand when he might be one of the few who might get a hit????

  58. Anonymous

Did you see Kershaw actually seeing the ball in, and watching it hit the bat?
    Maury would be proud

  70. Anonymous

did you hear that sonic boom?
oh, it was just Dee Gordon flyin’ past 2B

    • Anonymous

A good throw would’ve gotten him.

  71. Anonymous

I think it’s ironic that our second run came about with Dee reaching 1st due to an error

  72. Anonymous

Stop reminding us ESPN announcers. If only Dee could manage to hit 300 and all those stolen bases… :(

  73. Anonymous

now we start all over again, dare I say like it’s 0-0

I comment on DT  as if I was in the dugout
Guys bag on each other, plain and simple
Most of it  is  good -natured
I love to hear Tommy Lasorda’s profanity-filled rants
to me, that is sports through and through
    it’s so fun

a tough conundrum for James here – gotta line it into the SS just right to get that DP.

    Lumps, you say?
    _
I just know, as I’ve said before, that they’ll all  be worth it with Dee Gordon
    _
Did you see that SB?  He was flippin’ flyin’ !!!!
    You cannot teach that
When you collect a grouping of  such talented baseball players on a single field, I believe that the most intimidating thing is  to see an opposing player do something that you couldn’t do in 1000 years, and Dee has that kind of athleticism and speed

  90. KT

    So close juan

  91. Anonymous

players will always try to shrug it off, but they know well when they come  up against another player that they cannot physically deal with

  98. peter drysdale

Glad to see Dee playing so well offensively since the two errors. I wish we’d had some of these runs earlier this week

    • KT

Me too but just as long as the dam breaks and the hits keep on coming…I don’t care about the past

      • peter drysdale

Exactly. It’s just crazy that everyone went into a slump at the same time. At least guys will be coming back soon

  100. peter drysdale

  102. KT

Come on tony your turn to hit

  103. Welp, it was bound to happen eventually guys. ;) Also: June ended.

Also, I would to propose a trade with the Mets: A Coffey and Lindblom type relievers for Daniel Murphy.  Please hire me as your assistant GM now.

  104. 55,000+ in attendance. I know it’s Hello Kitty day but still a pretty nice turnout given how bad they’ve been playing.
