Woo hoo! And thanks for returning Jon. I’d be lost without you guys!

  4. It was sort of fitting that I wasn’t able to see the final outs live, but happy nonetheless. Thanks for hanging with me. Special thanks to people like KT and Linkmeister (not meant to be an all-inclusive list) who kept the light on when I couldn’t.

    • KT

I love being able to just have a place to hang out

    • The Australian contingent and the Indonesian contingent are farther away, but Hawai’i is pretty darned isolated too. It’s nice to have like-minded people around to celebrate this.

  5. Bob_Hendley

I knew it from the start! (but had my doubts in the middle – game and season)

    • John_from_Aus

I missed the middle parts on my way to work, I logged off at home just after the 3 run Hr and logged on at work just before the final out of the game

  6. Bob_in_Vegas

It was necessary to be around you guys when it was miserable . . . and it’s great to be around you when it’s fun!

  7. WinnipegDave

i have to head out to work tonight – but Wooo – Hoooo! Oct. 3rd is going to get crazy!

    Playoff Roster
    Locks:
Kemp, Ethier, Crawford, Puig, Schumaker, Gonzales, Ellis, Ramirez, Uribe, Punto, Hairston, Young, Ellis, Fedex, Kershaw, Grienke, Riyu, Nolasco, Jansen, Wilson, Rodriguez, Howell, Bellisario, Withrow.
One of: Marmol, League, SVS. Of course they may take two of them and drop Withrow. Old guys always get preference….

    • TAFKA_Gagne55

I’m not sure that Hairston is a lock. He’s kind of redundant on a team with Young, Punto, and Schumaker.

      • gobaers

At this point, I’m pretty sure they should take SVS over JHair. Not sure about Marmol. (Didn’t ever think I’d ever think that…)

      • thescrounger

Doesn’t matter he’s over the hill, as a seasoned vet, he gets a lock… I could accept SVS, Gordon, maybe even Marmol, but Hairston is written in stone.

  9. btimmer

Top of the 15th in Colorado. Still 6-6.

I got 1/2 hour to get to the airport

  14. btimmer

Rockies win it 7-6 in 15 innings. Dodgers one game back of the Cardinals for #2 slot.

  15. Hanley’s never been in the playoffs, Adrian’s only been there once. Zack Greinke’s been there once. There may be some of the older members of the Dodgers who’ve had more trips to the playoffs than some of the guys acquired by trade/free agency, veterans or no.

    Huh.

    • TAFKA_Gagne55

Schumaker and the Beard have been on championship teams in recent years.

  16. foul tip

Lost in the offensive heroics today was that the bullpen reverted to being nails–1 hit over the last 4 innings, 4 Ks, only 1 BB.

    • JHT

      Bullpen is always nails.

      • foul tip

I’m all for credit where it’s due, but not exactly lately.

After being almost untouchable for a long time, Paco got lit up a time or two. Beli has been kinda dicey lately with a walkfest the other night. Howell had a blip or two. League has reverted to crapshoot status.

No reliever will be perfect, and you have to expect regression to the mean when a pitcher has been as good as they all were during the hot streak.

But yesterday was more like the hot streak.

    • I’ve been reading it all on twitter. Players upset too. Makes me enjoy their dunk in the pool even more.

      • btimmer

“Hall said the team hasn’t discussed whether to file any official complaint with Major League Baseball, or if that’s even an option.”

        What would a complaint accomplish?

        • WBBsAs

Perhaps it would prevent celebrations in every other pool in both leagues.

        • Bob_Hendley

Make them look like whiners? (Note: my snarks about the Snakes never include Gibby)

    • Bob_Hendley

Next time they will remember to drain the pool beforehand. That would teach us a lesson!

  17. WBBsAs

I’d like to commend Nolasco for not letting the game get any farther out of hand.

    • ASW1

Reading through the comments, I can understand the knee-jerk reaction in wanting to pull Nolasco during the meltdown 3rd inning, but crying for a pinch-hitter the next inning? No way – he needed to go back out and get a few more innings under his belt. Now, if he came back out and continued to get lit up right away, sure, you pull him – but he’s a starter – starters sometimes have bad innings – you don’t pinch-hit for them in the 4th after a bad inning. Good call by Mattingly to let him get back out there and put that bad inning behind him.

      • KT

Both here and MSTI had the sky is falling attitude…I had to call them on it….this team can come back from a deficit

        • I’m sorry but that inning was terrible, and after his last start you can not honestly fault me or anybody else for wanting him out. Good thing he settled down and the team fought back.

          • KT

No problem I was just trying to bring everyone from the depths of dis-pear and it was the only way I thought I could do it…It was directed at anyone in particular…you should have read the comments on MSTI…total dumps…post it there first and thought it could help here also

          • WBBsAs

If he had shown any sign of weakening in the fourth, I would have pulled him immediately.

  18. btimmer

Matt Carpenter fell for the hidden ball trick today in Denver: http://www.baseballnation.com/hot-corner/2013/9/19/4750704/hidden-ball-trick-alert-colorado

  19. ASW1

Well, missed being able to celebrate the moment with everyone here but did get to hear it happen on the radio at work. Woooo-Hoooooo!!! First step checked off.

Some sour grapes coming from the Dirty Snake organization and players, hunh? What a surprise.

  20. John_from_Aus

Might be a tense start to the season here in Australia next year. Brilliant!

    • KT

love that hat…the shirts looked nice also but I’m going to wait until we go further in the playoffs

“PHOENIX – Los Angeles Dodgers first baseman Adrian Gonzalez, drenched
in champagne and beer, reached into the beer cooler Thursday afternoon,
    desperately looking for another can.

Nothing was left but ice water.

Gonzalez, who was ready to spray Dodgers president Stan Kasten, yelled across the
room: “Stan, there’s no more beer. What’s going on here?

“Are you telling me we finally ran out of money?”

    Thought that was funny.

  23. NoahUCLA

Pretty awesome after the last few years!! I would rest Hanley, Gonzalez, Ethier, Crawford and AJ for the next 5 days to let them heal, or rest in AJ’s case. There’s no reason for them to be out there and aggravate their injuries. We need them healthy for the playoffs more than we need home field. I would play them after that enough to get them ready and have them see pitching and get their timing down etc.

    WE OWN THE POOL!

  25. KT

Night all is was a Fantastic Dodger day today…glad I could share it celebrating with all of you

  26. scooplew

What a special day. I had to go to do work for a client with the Dodgers down, 6-3. When I was finished, we had won, 7-6. I should take more such breaks. Looking forward to corresponding with all of you at Dodger Thoughts as the season winds down and the Dodgers are in the playoffs and, I hope, the World Series. Twenty-five years is a long time. It has been a remarkable season. Let it continue.

  27. Near the end of a long day. I love you guys :) Go Dodgers!
