The Dodgers have called up Miguel Rojas and optioned Erisbel Arruebarrena, in a move no doubt partly designed to allow Arruebarrena to continue his development.

Arruebarrena went 4 for 13 with a double, walk and .742 OPS in four starts for the Dodgers, subbing in when Hanley Ramirez was sidelined, but had played only four innings with no plate appearances in the Dodgers’ nine games since May 26.

Rojas should become the sixth Dodger to make his MLB debut this season, following Alex Guerrero, Red Patterson, Pedro Baez, Arruebarrena and Jamie Romak. Like Arruebarrena, Rojas has been praised for his defense, and he has been charged with only one error this season at Albuquerque.

With the Isotopes, the 25-year-old has had a .353 on-base percentage and .434 slugging percentage, with all four of his four home runs in his past eight games.

Chris Withrow was moved to the 60-day disabled list to make room on the 40-man roster for Rojas.
