Dodger Thoughts

Jon Weisman's outlet for dealing psychologically with the Los Angeles Dodgers, baseball and life

Our first pitch: It’s time for Dodger Insider

By Jon Weisman

Welcome to Dodger Insider!

We intend for this blog to quickly become a new destination for comprehensive Dodger coverage. Everything in the Dodger universe, from what’s happening on and off the field to the scoop on tickets, promotions and events in the community, you’ll find highlighted here. We’ll have interviews, video highlights, analysis, think pieces and more. We hope to be a reference guide for the casual and hardcore fan alike.

For those who know me from Dodger Thoughts, the big change will be that I’m no longer a one-man band. We’ll have contributions from several in the organization and insider access.

Monday is launch day. Get ready to enjoy the ride.

I am confused by this comment. Why do you like Manny Acta so much?

  5. I look forward to the success of this blog.

  6. Hey Jon if u need a guest writer, Drank can help. Drank wrote an article on Chili Buss, comparing him to a Walter White. A goat liked it. Looking forward to your great work!

  7. I love that this place has no Official Rules.

I think Dee Gordon is a rising star oh and speaking of which Star Wars is awesome.

  9. I hope there’s a vibrant community that forms here so I can make cartoons about it!

  10. Hi Jon.

I met you last summer at a book signing. We spoke of my old college classmate Mark Langill. Congratulations on the GIG and the blog.

I believe that sabermetric statistics tend to under-value speed and that, given consistent playing time (though not at SS), Dee Gordon should hit at least .260 with an OBP of at least .340 and an average of 60+ SB per 162 games. I am looking forward to seeing him play some 2B and some OF in 2014.

Oh, and I believe that the “pitchers’ wins” statistic is wildly overvalued by the mass media but that it does have “some” inherent value (not the “zero value” attributed to it by many sabermetric devotees).

    Good luck with this!

  11. Welcome to the Mlb blogs Jon! It is great to have this kick in. My blog will go on 5 years come February 13.
