“Baseball recently showed the importance of inclusion at the All-Star Game with the hiring of former Dodger Billy Bean as its ambassador,” said Dodger executive vice president and chief marketing officer Lon Rosen.  “We look forward to once again welcoming and recognizing the LGBT community of Los Angeles to Dodger Stadium.  They are an integral part of this great city of ours and the Dodger community.”

This special event was designed by the Dodgers in partnership with Tom Whitman and Flip Events.

“The Dodgers are continuing to stand on the right side of history, by reaching out to all of the communities of Los Angeles, including the LGBT community and their straight allies,” said Whitman, senior vice president of Flip. “Major sports franchises are not often in front of equality issues, but the Dodgers have always been trailblazers, from the days of Jackie Robinson through today. LGBT Night Out will be a fun, celebratory night for all fans who believe in diversity, inclusion and great baseball.”

Fans can purchase tickets for LGBT Night Out at Dodger Stadium by visiting www.dodgers.com/out. Groups of 20 or more will receive special recognition opportunities.

  1. Sorry for being off topic but I was wondering how you felt about longer term roster going into next season while trying to add pieces to address needs for a club that looks like it will need to fight the entire way to get to the playoffs.

I see the questions facing the dodgers as follows in no particular order:

    1. Addition by subtraction; Reorganize the outfield to improve the defense and stabilize roles.

    2. Retool the bullpen. Overpay to acquire controllable relievers because the pen is not sufficient when it counts for the playoffs,

    3. Reach out to agree with HanRam to Re-sign happily as a third baseman. Reach out with an extension in-season if his side is open to it.

    4. Fill shortstop with in-house talent now if HanRam signs extension, or later if he re-signs this offseason as a third baseman…

    5. Don’t go far enough to win now strategy to trade away Joc, Urias, or Seager for a Price or Hamels when other team needs trump the rotation.

None of this stuff alone is going to improve the dodgers. However the effect of making definitive moves instead of keeping things in limbo could help the team to feel “loose”.and with that hopefully coax a higher level of performance out of a few guys. The team still needs to maintain flexibility, but in my opinion there’s enough flexibility that enough guys feel their role is so insecure that maybe it disrupts.
    All totally subjective.
