The Dodgers celebrated legendary pitcher Don Newcombe’s 90th birthday at their most recent homestand finale six days ago, but today’s the actual day. We all wish Newk a happy 90th!

I met Don in 2009 in Dodger Stadium and we reminisced about the game Bobby Thomson hit that never forgotten homer off Branca. He told me he was tired before he was taken out. What a great guy to converse with.
    Happy Birthday Don.

  2. Happy Birthday to Mr. Newcomb. I to had the joy of meeting him at Dodger Stadium, I think in 2006. My Wife’s Boss had season seats in the Club Level at the time and he was sitting near by. When I approached him as we both were out of our seats, he was waiting for me to hand him something to autograph. I simply told him a handshake was all I needed and thanked him for being a great Dodger and more so a person, he responded with a “thank you young man”.
