Vin Scully on what keeps him going

Vin“As long as I get the goosebumps on the exciting play, as long as I feel that, that’s kind of my thermometer as to whether I belong or not. I still get them, so far. And when you realize no job advancement — I mean I’ve just stayed at the same spot all those years — what a laggard. When I come to the park, I always feel better.”

  1. Vinny, You Truly are an Amazing Person and to me the BEST Announcer in ALL of Baseball. May GOD Keep & Bless you always and keep giving you those Goosebumps.

  2. Mrs. Scully said in an interview that she thinks they’d get bored if he retired. I think we’re about to get our kicks (snap) for season (snap) 66.

  3. I wonder more and more about aging and retirement. It seems, though I could be wrong, that retirement can have a more detrimental effect on your health than working…..or at least it can. Even if Vinny “retires” I hope he still does something baseball related. A memoir would be nice.

I actually remember when Vin joined Red Barber and Connie Desmond. I was twelve years old at the time. Very little else is the same in my life. Long, long ago.
